Our Team

Ted Shafran

Ted Shafran

President

A computer science graduate of York University, Ted founded Connectability Inc. in 1995, with a focus on providing end-to-end support for business IT needs. Prior to that he was founder, President and CEO of KTS Business Systems Inc. in Toronto, a large Systems Integrator and software developer.

Over the years, Ted has been a pioneer in exploring and implementing new technologies in business environments. In the early 1990s, he was instrumental in the implementation of Linux, the Internet, and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) in a variety of corporate settings, long before they were widely in use. More recently, he has worked extensively in the areas of Virtualization and Cloud Computing. Ted continues to be intrigued by the possible applications of new technologies.

Ted is also passionate about customer service, courtesy and the need for professionalism in IT. He believes that IT specialists should demonstrate the same level of commitment and professionalism as lawyers and accountants and he insists that every member of the Connectability team adhere to those principles

Neil Dyke

Neil Dyke

Technical Specialist

Neil has spent the last 10 years at Connectability, assisting our clients with a broad range of IT support needs. He first began working with computers as a teenager, in the very first days of the PC revolution, building and supporting the first IBM and Apple clones. That passion for technology continued during his university years. After a detour in the construction industry, Neil returned to school to train as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Prior to joining Connectability, he worked for 3 years at IBM doing U.S. commercial desktop and workstation support and providing some of their first commercial Linux support.

Neil views technology as a means to an end. While he enjoys providing those means, his principal focus is on ensuring that those means get the company or individual to their ends.

Len Balas

Len Balas

Technical Specialist

Len is the newest addition to the Connectability Team! Before joining Connectability he spent about 8 years delivering enterprise level support to OpenText, Burntsand and BMO. Len developed diverse technical and professional skills over his years working in fast paced and demanding environments, and as a result, is highly regarded by his peers for his problem solving abilities, communication, and interpersonal skills. Len is very driven by the desire to make customers happy, because he understands that computer issues directly affect our client’s ability to focus on THEIR business.

In his spare time Len enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, camping and writing. Len is also quite the musician! Several years ago, some of his tunes were featured on television shows and radio spots such as Party of Five, Liberty Street, and Bell Canada to name a few. He’s also spent time playing with famous musicians like John Bonham from Led Zeppelin and The Headstones. Len still loves music and is always working on new material with his band members. If you ever want to “talk shop” with Len about his music, just ask!
